Rev. Roberto and Kathryn (Katie) Weber

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Bio

The Rev. Roberto and Kathryn (Katie) Weber serve the Lord as career missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Dominican Republic. In this role, Roberto teaches at Concordia the Reformer Seminary in Palmar Arriba and serves as a pastor at a mission station in Santiago. He also brings along seminarians to Santiago to mentor them in pastoral practice.

Roberto was born in Maciá, Entre Ríos, Argentina. He studied humanities and social sciences in Argentina, and then went on to receive a degree in theology from Concordia Seminary, Buenos Aires. Roberto served his vicarage alongside LCMS missionaries in the Dominican Republic (2011–2013). He then was a parish pastor in Argentina (2015–2023), while also serving as an instructor at Concordia the Reformer Seminary in the Dominican Republic (2018–present) and as associate editor for the region’s VDMA Project (2019–present). In his free time, Roberto enjoys writing and translating hymns, gardening, and working on cars.

Katie (née Ziegler) is from Omaha, Neb., and her home congregation is First Lutheran Church in Papillion, Omaha, Neb. Katie holds an associate degree in restaurant management from Metropolitan Community College, Omaha; a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Concordia University, Nebraska, Seward, Neb.; and a master’s degree in theological studies and deaconess arts from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. Katie worked as a baker and pastry chef (2006–2010) before serving as a missionary in the Dominican Republic (2012–2015), where she met her husband. Katie is the author of Never Forsaken: God’s Mercy in the Midst of Miscarriage, available from Concordia Publishing House. Katie and Roberto have three children. In her free time, Katie enjoys arts, crafts and the culinary arts.

Prayers

Please pray for the Weber family as they serve in the Dominican Republic. Ask God to help them adjust to life in the Dominican Republic and to give them joy as they share the Gospel with many who have never heard it before. Let us give thanks that the Webers are serving God’s children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 13.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
