Stanley and Dana Stigdon

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Bio

Stanley and Dana Stigdon serve the Lord as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Dominican Republic. As regional business manager, Stan works closely with the regional director to manage the financial and business affairs of the LCMS in Latin America and the Caribbean. These duties also include providing vital behind-the-scenes support for LCMS missionaries, as well as implementing and managing programs, projects and systems that improve organizational capability and efficiency — all in support of spreading the Gospel.

In her role as volunteer coordinator, Dana interfaces between volunteer short-term mission teams and the local community for the recruitment, placement and support of short-term volunteers. Through this work, Dana’s goal is to educate and inspire the volunteers to become advocates, long-term supporters and servants in their own churches and communities.

Stan grew up in the Midwest and has been a resident of Maryland for the past 35 years. Stan earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill., and a master’s degree in business management from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. His diverse work experience includes roles in high school teaching, corporate training, marketing, business development and, most recently, as an elementary school principal. He has also taken on responsibilities as an elder, adult Bible study leader and LCMS Better Homes for Appalachia Servant Event leader. In his free time, he enjoys engaging in DIY and home automation projects.

Dana’s family moved frequently during her childhood, including spending time in Argentina. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Concordia University Chicago and a master’s degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md. She began her career as a computer scientist, but she later transitioned to homemaker and homeschool educator. Most recently, she has been working as an administrative assistant for a pastor. In her leisure time, Dana enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, scrapbooking, Bible journaling and taking leisurely walks. She is also passionate in her role as coach in Visual Faith Ministry.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 13.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
