Rev. Dr. Tom Park
Serving the Lord in Taiwan
Bio
The Rev. Dr. Tom Park serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Taiwan. As a theological educator, he teaches theology to laypeople as well as to those studying to become pastors, deaconesses and other church workers. In this role, he also is helping to start a new Lutheran seminary on the island.
Tom was born in Seoul, South Korea, and his home congregation is Jesus’ Love Korean Lutheran Church in Irvine, Calif. He holds degrees from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn. (B.A.); Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis. (M.Div.); and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. (Ph.D. in Missiology). He previously served congregations in Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and California, as well as at Concordia University Irvine, Irvine, Calif., where he was an assistant professor. In his free time, he enjoys learning about languages and cultures, reading, watching movies and traveling.
Prayers
Pray for Tom as he serves in Taiwan. Ask God to give good health to him and to his mother, who still lives in South Korea, so that Tom can carry out his responsibilities without distraction. Pray for Tom as he studies Mandarin, so he may speak fluently as he shares the Gospel. Pray also that God would open the hearts of the Taiwanese people to heed Tom’s preaching and teaching so that all might come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Let us give thanks to God that Tom is serving His children in this part of the world.
