Advent and Christmas message
From Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison
Advent is not only a time for repentance but also for gift giving as we remember the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who came to earth some 2,000 years ago for us and for our salvation.
“The Wise Men recognized the gift of Christ, and they came and gave Him their gifts,” says the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. “We recognize the gift of Christ to all of us. Our sins are forgiven. … He came, this Babe in Bethlehem, to die on a cross for the sins of the world. Commemorating that fact, we rejoice, and we give gifts to one another.”
