Lutheran Education Coordinator

Serving the Lord in Taiwan

Bio

Mindy Thews serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as the Lutheran education coordinator for the Asia region, based in Taiwan. In this role, she is a resource on curriculum development and pedagogy; facilitates and coordinates the translation, production and distribution of Lutheran materials for partner churches and their schools; and mentors teachers and groups all across the region.

Mindy earned both a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, with a science education minor, and a master’s degree in environmental science from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, Wis. As part of her college studies, she completed her student teaching at Hong Kong International School. Prior to accepting her current position, she taught at three Lutheran schools in the United States as well as at Concordia Middle School in Chiayi, Taiwan. Mindy’s hobbies include reading, browsing Pinterest for classroom inspiration and riding rollercoasters.

Prayers

Pray for Mindy as she serves in Taiwan. Ask God to give her peace and strength as she continues to understand the culture and traditions and strives to acquire a stronger grasp of the language. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of the students and educators in the region, so all may come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ. Let us give thanks to God that Mindy is serving His children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 13.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
