Bio
Benjamin and Rebecca Helge serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Eurasia region, based in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Benjamin works closely with the Silesian Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (SCEAV) and the Evangelical Center M.I.S.E. In cooperation with SCEAV, he is the lay leader for the K4 Community Center and church plant in Havířov-Šumbark. He and Rebecca reach out to the community by teaching conversational English to people of all ages, assisting with youth group and planning events for the neighborhood. In addition, Benjamin prepares resources and training materials for the church and helps organize English Bible camps in the Czech Republic. Benjamin also coordinates the LCMS GEO (Globally Engaged in Outreach) missionaries who serve in the Eurasia region.
Benjamin is from Albuquerque, N.M., where his home congregation is Christ Lutheran Church. He received his B.A. in music with an emphasis in education and a minor in worship arts from Concordia University Irvine in Irvine, Calif. Benjamin enjoys cooking, drinking good coffee and traveling. He also sings in a band and writes distinctly Lutheran music for the church.
Rebecca is from Highgate, Vt. She received a B.A. in philosophy from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., and an M.A. in humanities from Anglo-American University in Prague, Czech Republic. She worked as a missionary teacher at the Christian International School of Prague from 2011–2021, where she taught literature and Bible classes. Benjamin and Rebecca have one son, Viktor Emil, who shares their love of food..
Prayers
Pray for Benjamin and Rebecca as they serve in the Czech Republic. Ask God to bless their marriage and to guide Viktor as he grows in the faith given to him in his baptism. Pray also for their continued learning of the Czech language. Ask God to grow the church plant in Havířov and to fill it with new believers. Pray for new GEO missionaries to serve throughout Eurasia, and prayerfully consider joining or sending a team to help lead a summer camp in Central or Eastern Europe.
