LCMS black ministry convocation being held in Greensboro
Gathering place holds historic meaning

More than 200 Lutherans from throughout the United States are gathering for the national Black Ministry Family Convocation, with the theme, “Sing to the Lord a New Song!” LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison will address the gathering with a Bible study at 8 a.m. and a Q&A session at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 14.

North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, N.C. Participants are gathering in the alumni center, the former home of Immanuel Lutheran College and Seminary, which closed in 1962 and prepared many black pastors for ministry.

Why: |
The convocation aims to connect congregations in black ministry, strengthen the LCMS outreach to African-Americans, and provide participants a time to experience worship and spirituality through a service with Holy Communion, Bible study and hymn singing.
